Summer Resources for Parents

We hope your summer is full of some of the old standbys: popsicles, waterballoons, sunscreen, bike rides, and some lazy days. However, we know this is going to be a different summer. As we continue to support each other in our parent community, we wanted to provide a list of websites and resources we have found helpful. If you are looking for ways to prevent brain drain or just plain boredom, here's a list of links to some educational resources for students (and maybe a minute of peace for parents). All resources listed are FREE (or offer a free version). Check back as we may add more as the summer goes on...

  • SVVSD has an extensive list of resources for Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies for every level, K-12.
  • I-Ready accounts for students at Twin Peaks are active through the month of July (click on "Students and most Teachers" and students can do literacy and math lessons.
  • Khan Academy has great lessons on everything from Math to Computer coding, History, and Economics.
  • Khan Academy Kids is built for Prek-and Kindergarteners and includes early math, phonics and social/emotional lessons
  • Rocky Mountian PBS is airing lessons on TV for K-3rd grade students every weekday. You can also stream the lessons online any time and print materials (in English or Spanish!) to go with the lessons. If you don't have a printer they will mail you a packet!
  • PBS Kids also has a parent resource page with ideas for crafts, and activities that go with the educational programing they have.
  • Scholastic Magazine created Learn from Home reading resources from K-9th grade students. Online stories are interactive and often link to science experiments or other related info.
  • Longmont Public Library is offering their summer reading program. Download a bingo card, here.
  • Practice your Latin, Spanish, French or a new language using Duolingo.
  • Learn or practice your typing skills at, Dance Mat Typing, or Nitro Type.

Skirts and shorts must still come to the students finger tips with arms at their side.

Help us thank our outstanding teachers and staff!

Wish List

Many of our teachers have notified us of items they could really use, which are currently above and beyond our PTO budget. Rather than let these needs go unmet, we'd like to make them available for TPCA families to fulfill on an ongoing basis. The Amazon list will be updated as needs arise throughout the year. Some are very small and others may be larger amounts. Visit the wish list to view the wishes and purchase items.

We love our Teachers!

The PTO strives to make our teachers and staff feel loved and appreciated in many ways througout the year. We know parents may also like to show their appreciation with something special on a holiday, birthday or teacher appreciation week, so we have compiled a list of your teacher's favorites! Just click the button and scroll left to right to find your child's teacher.

King Soopers Rewards Program

If you have a King Soopers loyalty card you can earn money for our TPCA teacher's appreciation fund every time you shop. You no longer need to load a gift card to support the school, you only need a "Sooper Card."

It's Sooper easy! Take 5 seconds to start earning money for Twin Peaks:

  1. Login to your account at or
  2. Click on "Community Rewards" and type in HX413 (or search for Twin Peaks Charter Academy)
  3. Click enroll. Done!

The best part of the new program is that you can watch your donations to the school add up. King Sooper's donates 5% of your purchases every time you scan your loyalty card! Thank you for supporting TPCA while you shop!

How do I get involved?

There's something for everyone! Every parent can and should have a hand in making this a great year for all our students. Sign up to receive email updates, join the parent Facebook group, click on a sign-up link above, attend a monthly meeting, or email us for more info or to share your ideas.

What are the funds used for?

With the funds we raise, the PTO is able to provide free events throughout the year to promote school community. Additionally, money raised through the Trot and Silent Auction cover the cost of field trip transportation and help us reimburse teachers for some classroom supplies. We also use funds raised for special projects, like water bottle filling stations, playground shade, or a new piano for the music room.

Why should I track my volunteer hours?

All volunteers will be entered in a monthly drawing for a gift card or special parking spot! We also like to show how involved our parents and guardians are in our school, and a written record of volunteer time and involvement is important to have when we are applying for educational and non-profit grants. Your hours are not published and are only used for these purposes. Thank you for taking time to log them!
